2013-2015: Embarking on a Visionary Journey
In 2013, Uli Petzold founded Apure Lighting with a visionary approach: to reimagine the ceiling as the “fifth wall,” transforming it into a clean, functional surface that elevates architectural spaces. His ambition was to create recessed lighting solutions that virtually disappear into their surroundings, removing clutter and seamlessly integrating light, sound, and technology into one cohesive design. Apure’s products would not simply provide illumination—they would harmonize ceilings with other essential devices, such as speakers and sensors, to create a unified and purposeful architectural experience.
Partnering with Studio F.A. Porsche, Apure developed lighting systems that merged cutting-edge engineering with timeless design. The launch of the Clarus, Velo and Opus series introduced a new standard in integrated systems, incorporating lighting, and other various devices into a unified solution. By 2015, Apure had expanded its capabilities in a collaboration with Uli+Friends architectural planning studio in Miami, FL.
2016-2017: Pioneering New Approaches and Expanding Influence
By 2016, Apure had begun to solidify its reputation as a leader in innovative lighting solutions, expanding its influence globally. The signing of Apure’s 50th Authorized Reseller underscored the growing demand for its unique, architectural approach to lighting.
In 2017, Apure introduced its Minus Series, a groundbreaking LED fixture recessed in less than one inch, designed to be nearly imperceptible and glare-free. The series exemplified Apure’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology—integrating seamlessly into the architecture while delivering powerful, precise illumination.
2018-2019: Crafting Excellence and Elevating Global Standards
The opening of Apure’s production facility in Germany in 2018 marked a pivotal moment for the company, ensuring the meticulous engineering and craftsmanship that define every Apure product. The Minus Series, produced in this state-of-the-art facility, earned widespread acclaim and cemented Apure’s role as a leader in precision-engineered lighting solutions. This period saw Apure’s products gaining further recognition for their ability to marry aesthetic simplicity with technical sophistication.
2020-2021: Turning Challenges into Opportunities
Even during global challenges, Apure maintained its focus on sustainability and innovation. In 2020, the company introduced environmentally conscious packaging and optimized manufacturing processes, reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining the integrity of its designs. Apure’s collaboration with Titus HVAC in 2021 resulted in the development of the LightFlow system, a harmonious blend of lighting and HVAC technologies that further streamlined the ceiling.
2022-2023: Expanding for a Global Audience
Apure’s global expansion continued with the launch of the Artus Series and the Minus Nano Series in 2022, further advancing the company’s vision of discreet, high-performance lighting. The opening of a flagship showroom in Mallorca, Spain, provided an international stage for Apure to demonstrate its holistic approach to lighting and architecture. By 2023, Apure had signed its 100th Authorized Reseller, and the Artus Series was awarded the prestigious iF Design Award, reinforcing the brand’s standing as a leader in innovative, purposeful lighting.
2024 and Beyond: Forging New Paths
As Apure looks toward the future, it remains committed to pushing the boundaries of lighting design and innovation. Studio Apure, launching in late 2024, will introduce a range of decorative lighting solutions designed to inspire and transform spaces, while Apure Marine, launching in early 2025, will extend Apure’s expertise into the marine sector. With each new development, Apure continues to merge functionality with design, creating lighting solutions that are not just seen but felt—elevating spaces through innovation, precision, and purpose.
